Hi, I know its an quiet old topic and yes sure, a TUSL2-C can only utilize 512 MB of RAM.
But today I just threw one more 256 MB stick in. And hey, it counts 768 MB in the BIOS and it starts into Windows 98 SE and - yepp, it crashes.
In Safe Mode everything was fine and CPU-Z showed 786 MB and all sticks. So, I went further and installed the inofficial Win 98 SE service pack and patches.
Then I was able to start the UT2003 Demo, set all seetings in the game menu etc. But, when the Map was loading, it again crashes.
After this, I tried WIndows XP. It hangs when it starts formatting the disk. So the installation did not work with 768 MB.
So, I installed XP with 512 MB RAM - After the setup I installed the additional 256 MB again. It hangs at "logging on" in Safe Mode and Normal Mode...
Next, I will try Windows 2000 and Ubuntu 10.10 or something links this. Maybe also an older Board driver.
I am using the Board revision 1.04 and the latest (Beta) BIOS.
I have the feeling that it crashs when some service or driver loads. Not sure - it is strange behaviour. Seems not like a faulty random memory issue.
Windows 98 in safe mode was stable so far. And if it is a Hardware limitation, it should hang at POST - but it is loading Windows.
Maybe it is in BIOS or Driver - then, maybe it could be cracked somehow.
