my old computer is a k8v-mx/s but the latest version of cpu-z says its running in single channel mode 200mhz which is strange since 2 sticks are installed and 'my computer' shows 2gb of ram. does the board even support dual channel? 🤣 its been awhile since i used it. 2x1gb kingston hyper-x ram.

Duron 800mhz 256mb ram geforce2 mx Windows 98se

That motherboard is socket 754 . Socket 754 CPUs do not support dual channel, only single channel memory operation . See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_754

Socket 939 CPUs support dual channel mode .

The manual https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock754 … 35_K8V-MX_h.pdf does mention dual-channel fleetingly, but only in the RAM QVL section .This information is likely copy pasted from the data for a board that actually supports dual channel mode (like one with meant for a socket 939 CPU). This is likely a source of confusion .
