Hi,
I’m thinking of purchasing this motherboard. It currently has an Intel 486-SX33 processor in it and I want to upgrade it to a DX2-66 processor. Unfortunately it is a generic motherboard with no manual. The only descriptions on the board that are helpful are in the picture. Will I successfully be able to jumper this for a DX2-66? Any advice?

As long as it’s a 5v DX2 I don’t see why not
Can’t say I’ve seen a 486 board that can’t even the soldered sx systems with the overdrive socket usually could if not you had to buy a dx2 ODPR Overdrive chip
Thanks! But based on the board jumper details as seen in the pictures, how would one configure it to recognize the DX2-66 and not fry the board?
Between a 5V Intel SX33 and a 5V Intel DX2-66, probably no change at all, the DX2-66 probably applies the 2x multiplier itself and SX vs DX is probably BIOS detect - has FPU
Some boards actually need jumper settings to select SX or DX, cyrix or AMG/Intel
Stuck at 10MHz...
In worst case your BIOS will recognize it as SX2-66 without FPU.
As a DX2-66 dissipates more power, you should consider a heatsink and airflow.
DX33 and DX40 do not require a heat sink or airflow.
DX2-50 does not need airflow but a heatsink is very recomended.
For everything faster (DX50, DX2-66 or better) I basically recommend heatsink & airflow.
But you do not need an airflow if there is just a printing "heatsink req'd" on the ceramics.
