can't help ya there, I wasn't any good at calculating probability
If I really wanted to know if the setup you are describing will work,
I would pull out a mainboard, a 1542 scsi card, a sca drive, some cabling/adapter tidbits
and try it out until I either run out of ideas, or get it working.

I'd also use a 50-68 adapter on the 1542, and a 68 cable with attached active terminator, and an added active terminator on the other side of the cable, and one of those generic 50-68-sca(80) adapters and several different brand/model sca drives.

but that's just what I would do, not a probability.
