Is this where the CSP chip is supposed to go?

Like the above post yes.

It isn't that useful in DOS except for one game called TFX which takes advantage of "3D audio" of the CSP chip.

On Windows (especially in slower computers) it can be used to reduce CPU usage while playing audio. For example: "Accelerating" Windows 95 with Creative's Advanced Signal Processor (CSP)

Thanks for the update, yeah I mainly use this card for DOS games in a 386.
