Hey everyone,
A friend of mine sent an old laptop my way a few weeks ago. The laptop is a Prostar 5200PT and it's been quite difficult trying to track down information about it. A brief Google search reveals that one of these laptops sold on Mercari a few months back and that Sager released a similar if not an exact copy of this laptop as well. I found a bunch of details on this blog about the Sager laptop that somewhat match my model. I'm wondering if anyone has any details or history of these old laptops. I'm kind of curious as I've worked with old Sager laptops before. I know they slapped their brand on some generic OEM laptop chassis back in the day and it seems that Prostar has done the same thing. Any details or drivers are greatly appreciated.

Also, if anyone happens to have any Prostar OEMINFO.INI / OEMLOGO.BMP files, please send them my way.

SPECS:
Intel Pentium @ 150 MHz
16 MB RAM
Cirrus Logic video card with 2 MB VRAM
No HDD included but supposedly came with a 1.3 GB HDD
Win95 native

Thanks again

For anyone who is curious, the Sager and Prostar laptops are identical so this should give you a good idea of what it looks like.

That should be a Kapok 5200P - they were an offshoot of Clevo back in the 90s making premium rebrandable desktop replacement laptops, until they got re-absorbed around 1998.
See this page for specs: https://web.archive.org/web/19990127225300/ht … k.com.tw/5c.htm

The 5200P is the series - you might find more searching for only "5200P". The T indicates that it's TFT, usually. That little flower sticker also says '12.1"T' on my 6200AT, so that seems to also be a good indicator of what's a TFT and what isn't.

Another post I made with a cool 90s cgi picture of your laptop: Re: Bought these (retro) hardware today

I am currently trying to get my Pro Star 5200PT working, but the hard drive is fully functional and I cloned it to my computer (1.5 gb). I can share whatever stuff you need.

If you still need it here is the OEM files: stephensdev.com/secretstash/oemProStar5200PT.zip
