You are likely going to have to track down drivers manually. I have an aptiva 2153 that came with a k6-2 on an ali aladin v chipset motherboard. I was able to identify some of the drivers i needed by reading chips on the board. Some of the devices had to be identified in device manager to find out what it was so i could track down drivers. And some of the drivers and some good information i found on this page (https://aptivasupport.com/aptiva.html)

Hmm at the old IBM archive is lists 2151 but only 82C, 84P, 84Q, 84V, 88P, 88Q and 88R. No 30A.
and links are broken.....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

The 30a might be basically the same and just a code signifying what store it was meant to be sold at or something. And sometimes you can put broken links in the wayback machine. If its archived the downloads usually still work to.

I did some more research and unfortunately the wayback machine did not save any of the drivers. It appears that machine was offered in both a pentium 2 version with presumably an intel chipset and a k6-2 version. If the k6-2 version is anything like the aptiva 2153 it probably has an ali aladin v chipset. Video is probably either a riva tnt2 or an ati rage of some kind. Without further information on what parts this machine contains i cannot track down any drivers.

Yes need more info: chipset, cpu type, etc. I also saw that one with a 2151 -88P claimed it was a Slot 1 Pentium 2. A quick Archive search got me here:
http://web.archive.org/web/200006151810 ... iva%7c2151
but hit road blocks after that....
if you can get the driver numbers they may be here: http://ps-2.kev009.com/pccbbs/aptiva/
BUT there is no 2151 models files listed. There is manuals/files for 2136, 2137, 2138, 2139, 2140, 2142, 2144, 2153, 2156, 2159, 2163, 2168, and more ;p but no 2151 🙁

side note: In my archive collection is this for NetVista series: http://web.archive.org/web/20020802230910/htt … IGR-4MVU6P.html
If the link does not open then: copy the shortcut and shorten to just the web page .html you can open most of them and get the bios, driver, etc names.
example for my Netvista M42 8307: http://web.archive.org/web/20020802230910/htt … pe=&subtype=Cat
becomes http://web.archive.org/web/20021105125617/htt … MIGR-42954.html 😀
I have not found a way to get to the Aptiva MIGR-***** html's yet 🙁

Great find ! and explains why so little information is out there for that model......
There is nothing at http://ps-2.kev009.com/pccbbs/ about any 2151 model...

It is there, but I ignored lt on first pass as it didn't mention the 30A - http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/d1ae.htm - then I couldn't find it again with a later search but stumbled on the archived IBM link instead.

Funny to say but windows 98 did dilever all the driver needed. Seems like its out of the box working! I had no problems yet. Thanks anyway for all the help 😀

Can you please make a post listing what hardware this machine has so that anyone who has this issue in the future and doesn't want to use windows 98 can track down drivers for it.

Some pictures of the motherboard would be great too 😀

Thanks ! Never thought an Acer board would be in an IBM of that era computer but then based on the https://web.archive.org/web/20040816004613/ht … cid=DETR-3ZWS8S
They were resellers/system configurers so could have put any board in any machine and just changed the sub code if a IBM model since they were responsible for tech support....
For driver and docs refer you here: https://www.ultimateretro.net/en/motherboards/6910#downloads and http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/acer/mb/v58xa.htm
and maybe this: https://www.elhvb.com/supportbios.info/archiv … cer/v58xasg.pdf

Not just the 2151 it seems - wonder how many other models / non-IBM board options existed?

Interesting !! I did find the orig IBM page for the jumpers for the board part no. 12J6890 and it does list as 2137 E series, hard to read but the FRU on OP board could be 12j6890 or 8890 ??
the jumpers seem to match.. http://web.archive.org/web/20030225134056/htt … MYS-3LLS5T.html
and at bottom does list XXA for possible 30A which could apply to the 2151 also.
http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/5a1a.htm
Also found these about the BIOS: http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/c3ba.htm and http://ps-2.kev009.com/pcpartnerinfo/ctstips/50a6.htm
For drivers it gets a bit weird, many thru google searchs for same boards drivers going back to 2005 and before show they found nearly nothing.

OP doesn't mention a location, so might be relevant - https://web.archive.org/web/20040816004613/ht … cid=DETR-3ZWS8S

Germany so yeah it fits into the Discription.

For Win95/98 drivers you need the ALI IDE driver and the ATI 3D Rage II+ driver:

Is it worth it? Cause basic win98 Drivers work out of the box? Any Performance/Stability Boost?

Think those drivers are designed to work in Win95 and 95 OSR2 as well as Win98 but since 98 has drivers you probably would not gain anything. Does the IDE controller show as Buss Master or DMA mode ?
They do supply Bus mastering DMA under Win95 otherwise would be just standard IDE PIO mode, which is slower
