If you are thinking of the GTL+ 1.5v bus (also called VTT, which runs at up to 66mhz), it is not supplied by the off board VRM. Only the Vcc for cpu and cache are....
according to the Power Distribution Guide and Pro Family Developer vol 1 from the way I read things...
