Hello guys, I recently bought a pair of AdvanSys ABP-5140/42 SCSII adapter and TOSHIBA XM-3501B CD-ROM and I didn't expect that finding the driver will be so challenging. So, maybe someone has it or can point me to the right direction?

Thank you!

Welcome.

There is this pack here, but it doesn't specifically list your model: https://www.vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fil … 786&menustate=0

You probably found this one pretty quickly and would have seen that it's just bait. But the filename shown here "AdvanSys_ABP-5140_5142_driver_and_manual.zip" could aid your search.
http://www.storagedrivers.com/drivers/531/531176.htm

Here's the Wayback capture of the original download page. The download links look dead but you can see the original file was called "dosfiles.exe" https://web.archive.org/web/20010331080028/ht … /fastultra.html

Have a look here too. Do a ctrl-f in the descriptions of each CD and see if anything looks promising: https://archive.org/search.php?query=ad ... oftware%22

Or maybe weedeewee has the drivers:

My google & archive fu is letting me down, so I'm throwing this question out here.

Does anyone have a fully equipped Advansys ABP-5140/42,
ie the one with the floppy drive controller on board & the eeprom for the bios
and would said person be so kind to share some
clear photos of the card
and a
copy of the bios?

I've got one without floppy & bios and want to try to add the bios to it and if the chips can be found, the floppy controller as well.

Thanks.

Pierre, nope, I don't have the drivers, and the archive site you linked to also does not have the drivers. I hit the same site myself just a few minutes ago. Google for the filename + advansys only leads to a japanese site, which links to the original site that the archive site is from... so no go 🙁 (yet...)

ctrl-f advansys

Promising looking downloads:

ADV-DOS.ZIP
ISADISK1.ZIP
ISADISK2.ZIP

the ADV-DOS.zip contains dosfiles.exe, which contains ADVASPI.SYS v2.6c and ADVANCD.SYS.
ISADISK1.ZIP contains ADVASPI.SYS v2.41

Nice find Pierre32 !

Report back if it does the job, and we'll get it uploaded to Vogons Drivers 😀

Here's to hoping that tutankhamen will do that testing & reporting swiftly.
Now still have to find the bios and hi-res photo so I can have it be bootable and maybe add the floppy part.

The DOS / Win 3.x compressed package is called WINFILES.EXE (attached), and the instructions can be found here - https://web.archive.org/web/19980116235225/ht … upp/dosread.htm

The ISA config utility which allows IO port address, Hardware IRQ, and DMA Channel changes is called CFG5140.EXE (attached)

Actually, it was Pierre32, and the ADV-DOS.ZIP contains dosfiles, winfiles, etc...
might as well add the link... http://ftp.mpoli.fi/pub/hardware/HDD/OTHER/ADV-DOS.ZIP 😀

Thank you very much guys! You're awesome! I started from ADV-DOS.ZIP proposed by Pierre32 and later by weedeewee. It contains DOSFILES.EXE archive which has all the stuff I need. README says just run INTSTALL.EXE and it copies all required files for the adapter, CD-ROM and HDD, as well as add all the required changes to CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT. So, everything works now! Thank you very much again!

DOSFILES.EXE would be better since it's smaller and contains DOS installer which makes everything easier.
