Wait, a thread about the Geforce FX without a "der Föhn" reference ("the hair dryer", aka GF FX 5800 Ultra) ? That can't be. 😂

And here, a parody by nvidia itself about the 5800:

Thank you for the info . nForce isn't really my thing these days as I like my Windows 9x builds to have good DOS audio capability and I'm also not a fan of Live!/Audigy SB16 emulation in general. For XP, I prefer much newer platforms .
This info will be of benefit to others, however.

Of course, SB16 emu on Live!/Audigy is not the same as the true OPL of Yamaha or quality clones. But the ISA slot is missing and none PCI sound card with a good FM synthesizer has been able to run, apparently due to nForce chipset limitations.
I want that build primarily as my daily driver for dual boot (W98SE and max DX8 games, WXP and DX9 games), for DOS games I have several other builds. But, you know, sometimes you want to relax in a simple Doom or Duke FPS and turn on another computer to do it? That's why I'm glad that at least the crappy SB16 emulation works on this lineup.
