I picked up a tiny Toshiba Portege 3010CT laptop a few years back but only just getting around to fixing/restoring it - it powers on and POSTs OK but it has a couple of hardware issues:
I just happened to have the correct RTC/CMOS battery so that should be sorted once the replacement charges up.
With the case taken apart I could hear a feint clunking noise coming from the HDD that I couldnt hear before so this confirms that there is indeed an issue with the 4GB HDD - fortunately I have a case of spare old 2.5" IDE HDDs so I have a 20GB one I shall fit shortly - I think this laptop originally came with Windows 95 so a 20GB should be a good replacement as if I remember correctly W95 supports up to a maximum of 32GB HDDs.
I've not been able to find any restore discs so far (or Configuration Builder CDs as they're called for this model). I have managed to find some for the Toshiba Portege 3110 on the Internet Archive but not specifically for the 3010CT model that I have.
[EDIT]
Replacing the RTC/CMOS battery and the failed HDD has gotten rid of all the errors/issues 😀
All I need to do now is see if I have the required FDD in my collection and try and get Windows 95 installed...
