gday, picked this up recently and the 98install has a lot of junk with a real slow boot i don't think the owners put all of the original drivers on or there might be conflicts as anytime i install/uninstall anything the SB Live chime and video plays which i don't think is standard. The gateways archive.org site doesn't appear to list this model and majority of similar model number links are dead.

i thought id upgrade this with a voodoo banshee or v3 until i noticed the PSU. It's a small mATX, only 90w max and low amps on the +5 and +3.3 is there any new old stock matx psus that would fit a system like this? or a modern one that i could get adapters for?

is there much use for ethernet cards for these builds? outside of a retro nas i can't find any uses for em so i end up with an ever growing pile of modem/network cards
if we can solve the limited psu with something beefier let me know some upgrade suggestions

Yes, you can get modern SFX form factor in any watts even 500W. 200 to 300W will suffice.
Cheers,

is mini-atx the same form factor as sfx? my only worry was a modern sfx might not fit it's weird mounting bracket
edit: yup right they seem to be the same, haven't seen a psu described as mini-atx before, still learning a lot about these older systems lol
modern sfx seem very light on the 3.3 and 5v rails. luckily on ebay there's DPS-350JB-1B which are delta electronics +5v 35a and +3.3v 20a combined 215w but ill have to get a couple SATA to molex as it's only 2x molex and 2x sata.

At Gateway archive found info maybe for the board: from this: https://web.archive.org/web/20030204233343/ht … =dt_mot003.html
checked 600Mhz thru 700Mhz cpu's and found this:
https://web.archive.org/web/20030218201318/ht … =dt_mot085.html
checking some boards code named Bryant lead me here:
https://web.archive.org/web/20030302173900/ht … 2510183nv.shtml and
and https://web.archive.org/web/20030418130015/ht … 2512223nv.shtml
example of one of the views with Celeron: https://web.archive.org/web/20021218212240/ht … 251222301.shtml
Unfortunately nothing found for board # 4000655 yet....(did find 4000660 and 4000700 and some others...)

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
