Hello everyone
Recently I have acquired a Compaq Contura 400cx.

I am now trying to find the drivers and manuals associated with it, so I could restore it if I break something (and for completionist sake i guess).
In my search I found this thread (Compaq Contura 400cx), but the support.hp website linked in the reply seems to be dead.

I have also found a .zip file on archive.org, that claims to be for the Contura family (https://archive.org/details/compaq-contura-la … -series-drivers), but inside are pictures and .txt files describing a Contura 420c.

Now the question is, are the drivers for the 420c compatible with the 400cx?
If not, does anyone have a Version of the Files that where hosted on support.hp?

Use the following website on the waybackmachine:
https://web.archive.org/web/19990508123415/ht … S/US/INDEX.HTML
Select Contura and your model and OS.

Then click the downloads you want, find the SP number.

For instance, version 1.12 rev. b for "Computer Setup and Diagnostics for Portables" has SoftPaq filename SP2054.exe.

The SOFTPAQ's are hosted on HP's FTP server and on other mirrors, but you can also use Google.

Thank you very much and please excuse my long abscence.

The hp-ftp doesn't seem to be working for me, it just says access forbidden when I try to open it.

The cwcyrix mirror worked and I found most SOFTPAQ's there, the rest I downloaded from
https://www.vinpaq.com/download/softpaq

For the manual:
I found a listing on ebay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/COMPAQ-CONTURA-FAMIL … 92410489?_ul=IL

I already bought and received it, but some Chapters seem to be missing (the book isn't damaged or anything, they just aren't included).
In the Original listing are pictures of the table of contents, the chapters missing would be 5, 6, and 7.

My guess is that these were seperate booklets.
Would you happen to know anything about these?
