I want to build an old game system on a budget. So I had this H81 motherboard, a 35w celeron (1820?) and an old classic xbox that I'm going to use as a case. But I want to use a processor that generates as little heat as possible. Unfortunately over/underclocking is not an option for me (the motherboard doesn't have that kind of feature).

I already have this celeron, and apparently it's not that bad, it has similar performance to a core2quad. But I would like to use the best processor I can, to try to emulate PS2 on this thing (my pentium g4560 still suffers from gran turismo 4)

I ran Xeon E3-1231 v3 (~4770) on Scythe Mugen 2 with no fan no problem, air was circulating forced by psu fan only.
This old cooler never had 1150 clamps available "Socket LGA1366, LGA1155/6, 478, LGA775, AM3, AM2+, AM2, 754, 939, 940 compatible" so I managed to get it for something stupid like $5. 4 screws from hardware store and some slight dremeling of holes fixed that.

Thanks for answering. I was immediately interested when I discovered this xeon, but I saw that its tdp is 80w. The classic xbox case is small/tight, I'm afraid of overheating. Inside the case will also be a graphics card (probably a low profile GT740) and a dell slim psu.

I don't want to cut the case, I really like its design, I want to build something sleeper. Initially I was going to use a ps3 fat case, but it wasn't big enough

I can even use a cooler with a fan, but it would have to be one of those low performance models
