Hi everyone, I found this 2000 era-ish motherboard at my parents' house recently and I was wondering if anybody was able to identify it? It's got a Pentium III 866 CPU attached but I can't see any manufacturer name or model number on it.

Also, am I right in thinking that I would need to scrape off the orange residue off the CPU and underside of the heatsink and apply a whole new layer of thermal paste in order to get it up and running?

Did the VIA Northbridge chip (near the Processor Socket 370) not come with a heatsink originally?

The motherboard was given to me way back when and it's never had a heatsink since it's been in my possession. Should the Northbridge chip have one and if so, are they hard to come by nowadays?

There´s nothing on the pcb to mount / fix a heatsink and there are no remnants of glue so I guess there never was a heatsink attached to the northbridge.
It´s probably supposed to be cooled by the CPU-cooler´s airstream.

Yes, nevermind, it was because I have a similar motherboard with a heatsink there. But when doing an image search on "VIA Apollo Pro", there appear plenty motherboards without one.

from the archives it does appear to be a AP133AAS13-950C/AP133AAS13-B950C variant: http://web.archive.org/web/20010321001115/htt … 0/prod/950C.htm
according to them the AP133AS13-C957 looks like this: http://web.archive.org/web/20000831023736/htt … k/prod/c957.htm
no manual for the B950 variant but there is one for the C950....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
