I'm looking for the version of MS DOS 5 that would have shipped with my Magnavox 386SX computer (shown here).
Does anyone have it? I've found Phillips versions of MS DOS but I don't know if they were the same.

Yes it used a Philips branded DOS, here is a youtube video from 2013 of a mostly factory original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSbbu4QyKM0
Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Does the back of your Magnavox look like this picture ? Just curious.
I found Philips branded DOS 4 but not DOS 5. If you found Philips DOS 5 can you PM me a link ???

That's it, alright!
does anyone have any of the custom programs that work. Specifically ive been looking for the app to control the turbo speed setting rather than having to use the bios.
I thought i found it one point but the speed.com complains error message.
i have the 386 sx 16 cpu.
Necro'ing for a good cause, I happened to stumble upon this post and I had the disks in question among the stuff I was repacking for storage a few nights ago so imaged them and made an account to share.
Just used WinImage 6.0 for it, so three formats per image to choose from for convenience/preference.

This was on Magnavox AT/SX System & Video Utilities SCAMP 12/16/20, release date of October 9th 1991. Single highdensity 3-1/2"
8706 155 95781
I also still have Magnavox Supplemental Drivers Disk[/] (8706 15975451) dated March 13th 1991, as well as the CD setup diskette (that included Grolier's Encyclopedia) but they were failing to read so I'll need to try them in other drives in the future or different methods to image them.
im still interested so necro-away 😀
anything special on the Philips DOS 5 from the standard microsoft version?
Thanks !

There were no errors when I imaged the utility disk, so hopefully it works just fine for you when you have the time to give it and the speed one in particular a go.
Might take me a while to get the other Magnavox driver disk done because I'll need to change up my hardware for it.
I have hundreds of disks of each type to back up, but am aiming to prioritize driver disks that aren't yet archived elsewhere, followed by utilities.
I do have a few other sets of MS-DOS 5.0 amongst everything in the various caddies so I'll put comparing them onto the future to-do list once everything is backed up
i tested all the images tonight. The msdos doesnt seem any different other than the setver spits out Philips information.
but it was great to see the speed.com (turbo switch in software) in the utils install this has been the one program i wanted to find. So thank you for archiving these.
the other useful thing was the scems driver which added some ems memory at the expense of conventional.
i dont think the other tools will be of much use with a compact flash and a vga lcd screen.
