Hi,

So I wanted to build a new 386 system with a KMC A419-8 (ACER ALi M1419) motherboard. All went well except for the fact that I do not get serial mice to work on the system. CT Mouse driver recognizes the mouse, but it doesn't work either in Windows (3.1.) or any DOS games.

Here is my unsuccessful troubleshooting so far:

Tried different serial mice (Logitech and Microsoft) - all got recognized by the drivers
Tried Logitech and Microsoft mouse drivers instead of CTMouse - recognized the respective mice
Tried different addresses on the COM ports
Tried different COM ISA cards
Replaced the PSU as I thought there might be a problem with the -12V rail

Is there a known issue with this board? Any other causes that escape me? Would be great to get the mouse working on the system.

Thanks!

I'm not fond of ctmouse, so, first suggestion, try another mouse driver. default microsoft mouse driver to test the mouse.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

Anybody?
Is my case so isolated that nobody else has had this issue?

I would also try to setup the IO card into different ISA slots.

P.S. Does -12V present in ISA slots ?

As stated in my "troubleshooting so far", I have used different drivers and mice.

I tried several I/O cards in different slots.

How can I check if I have -12V in the ISA slots. Where would I have to measure with my multimeter? I checked the PSU so there I know I have a -12V rail.
