Hello. I wanted to say hello. This is my first post here 😀

I have a SMARTEK 860407 motherboard https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/precis … -precise-860407

I don't know how to enter bios. Or go further. I would like to install MS DOS

Computer has HDD (no original controller)https://stason.org/TULARC/pc/hard-drives-hdd/ … -MFM-ST412.html
2 x 5.25 floppy (no original controller) added GoldStar Prime 2 9420

I have already ordered the HDD controller. I'm waiting for the shipment
I tried to enter the Bios with the keys, but it did not work (ctrl+alt+insert, esc, F1, etc.) I tried to connect the gotek but without success. at startup it communicates with gotek but nothing happens.

I will be grateful for all advice and suggestions. Regards

That vintage, you need compatible CMOS setting program for phoenix bios that you run from DOS. I had done that before.

Get it booting first. May need to use 720K or 360K disk boot disk with cmos setup program.

Cheers,

I think Gsetup is compatible, but you might want to use a patched version that doesn't corrupt the settings.

If Gsetup does not work: https://www.minuszerodegrees.net/5170/setup/5170_gsetup.htm
I have two old Phoenix setups, one from 1986 the other 1989. I suggest you try the 1986 one first.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

None of the keys are working because you are getting a keyboard error. Read the POST screen. Something is wrong with the keyboard interface

🤣 I missed that, good eye !

This is a photo from the first launch. There is no message at this time.

Try Ctrl+Alt+S or Ctrl+Alt+Esc any time the computer is waiting for input.. some BIOSes work like that.

Unfortunately. I've already tried everything. But thanks for the advice. I also connected different keyboards.

Agghhhh! this is reminding me of the IBM setup bios diskette i've been searching for my Panasonic CD-V21P - an absolute curse!

Panasonic removed all drivers/util for their old laptops in 1995 according to the archives.
There are a few setup's for desktops, maybe one of them might work for your lappy....
