Picked up a few of these on the cheap, they work well, but my drives are only detected as slave - regardless of which part of the IDE cable I plug in the adapter. I can't find a jumper on them or a way to configure as master. Hoping for some advice from the forum.

According to what little data/product brief there is, it would appear that the JMH330 is for master, and the JMH330S is for slave.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

Interesting ! There is another model that has a Master/Slave jumper. According to datasheet pin 33 is the Master/slave select. It is pulled low internally (31Kohm internal).
My guess is that the one with the jumper pulls it high thru about a 5k-10k resistor R18 (sheet says 4mA max if I read it proper) one way and leaves open other way.
So it may be possible to decode your "slave" version and make it a "master" version.
