Over the years, I've collected some Logitech Bus Mouse cards and a "Microsoft InPort Device Adapter" card.

I only have serial and PS/2 mice. Is there any use for these cards if I don't have the older style bus mice?

Rumour has it that the chip on Microsoft's InPort card could be reconfigured for other types of peripherals, but no product other than mouse is known

Seems like this could be rewired perhaps--

Check all your MS serial mice, there was one that can take an adapter and work on a bus mouse card.

Hand scanners seemed to use a very similar plug and not very highly populated card and in some instances the roller on the scanner seemed to take over the Y axis of the mouse. So I am not sure how closely related the two interfaces are and whether there's hope of using one for the other or not.

edit: there's a chance that you could mod this adapter to allow USB mouse to bus mouse port, I keep finding refs to Amiga mouse being like a bus mouse, but I don't know how like. https://hackaday.com/2023/02/22/an-amiga-mous … the-modern-way/

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.
