My question - is it possible to use this module as a USB to RS232 converter. In other words, is it possible to read/write files from/to USB flash memory sticks using this module via RS232 Serial Port on IBM PC compatible and other computers equipped with RS232 Serial Port connection?

Probably, but you'd have to write drivers for it.

Better off getting one of those CH375 ISA USB adapters - USB ISA cards?

Yes, but there are computers (even IBM PC compatibles) without ISA slots at all. I've seen on www.yyzkevin.com site (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaWHxa2fFc4) some PCMCIA (16 bit I guess) board to which this module was connected. But this monster PCMCIA board looks like being some custom design though. This may be an alternative solution (USB to PCMCIA 16 bit) but there is another problem, where can I find this PCMCIA board?
