I have this IBM terminal and absolutely no knowledge of how to connect anything or what I could do with it. I could possibly find a DB25 cable and/or repin it. Ideally, I'd be fine connecting via PuTTY or similar and just using it as a display. Does anyone know if that's possible?

Big giveaway is that round connector (Twinax) - I vaguely know it was a big thing on AS400 - and THAT is the "computer input" (the other sockets on the left are respectively printer and monitor - apparently missing a cable according to the manual)

I did read, some years ago, about someone converting some other Twinax terminal to work for Linux on an ordinary PC but it wasn't really trivial...
Possibly it was this one: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?t=23885

Thanks for that, I didn't find that manual. I found out about the twinax connector and figured that's the "input". Haven't began researching if there is some serial-twinax converter to make this a trivial thing.
The link looks to be EXACTLY what I'm trying to achieve.

Isn´t there supposed to be some keyboard connector?

Yep but not in the photos, it's on the right side 😀

Also keyboard for this is also not standard piece. That one is missing with this terminal.

Cheers,

The connector is there. I'm not too concerned about finding a keyboard; I think there are some one Ebay and I may find one here yet. I'm wondering if it's worthwhile pursuing this project before I purchase anything. It seems like a really nice tube with no burn in that I can tell. Be a shame if it was just trash.

Where did you find that ?

I still have an AS400 https://imgur.com/MZE6ds0 in the basement, haven't used it in almost 20 years now due to lacking apropriate interfacing equipment, as in, I lack the terminal.
Only last year I found an interface card, yet I haven't found the time to actually dive into it and connect it all up .

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

An ASCII terminal is only usuable as a text based terminal.

A few folks have made them into a text output device under Linux but unless you tear the thing apart and mod it
It won’t work as a TTL Mono Hercules screen for a pc
