Hi everyone,
I have a GA-586-ATS motherboard with a Dallas DS12887 battery onboard.
Of course it's dead and I've seen on a LGR video where he desolders the old one to be replaced by a modern CR2032 CMOS battery. I've seen in other threads though that maybe the battery just lifts off and can be replaced with a modern alternative, rather than having to desolder it. I've attached some photos and to me it looks like the top section will come away from the bottom soldered part. I've not tried yet though for fear of damaging anything.
I want to put in a modern CR2032 somehow, so I guess either I have to desolder the whole thing, or remove only the top and then replace it with some modern battery replacement board?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
