Greetings everyone, I have bought a Performa 476 on ebay in working condition and is on my way to my house plus I intend to recap the board and psu.
The thing is how much of a speed boost I will get on the 68040LC at 25mhz over the 68030 at 33mhz which is an overclocked Lc III standard?
For CPU it looks likes 2-3x MHz vs Mhz.

So it will certainly be much faster overall despite the lack of a fpu? I would figure since I have seen YouTube videos of the 475 responsiveness and how fast games play such as sim city 2000.

it should be decently faster but like you said anything that can take advantage of FPU would have to rely on software FPU instead
the 68LC040 was also used in models like the Performa 630CD which people love to hate on

An 040 is noticably quicker, On my Amiga 1200, I went from a 40mhz 030 with really fast ram, to a 33,hz 040 with normal 60ns edo and its 2-3x faster depending on what your doing, ram access is slower but you dont really notice. Lack of an FPU would make a differance oer a full 040, but as you dont have one with an 030 your not really missing out. Can you not find a full 040 for a little more and use that, and gain an fpu at the same time?
I have bought a full 040 and it is on its way to be delivered soon.
I now have the full 040 and certain games play much better on it now such as Wolfenstein 3D. In addition, I have recapped my LC 475 and works great now.
