The VTech 35-8258-03 motherboard has a header to connect a PS2 mouse.

On the picture the 5 pins header is right above the keyboard connector. I have no idea nor any information which of the pins is 5V, data, clock or ground.
In the BIOS you very often find a setting for enabling the PS2-mouse. In the BIOS of this board there is no such setting.
I know that it is rather risky to connect the mouse to the wrong pins. So my question is: does anybody know how to conect the mouse on the pins of the header.

Vtech /PcPartner has a FAQ page with mouse header, test the +5v and Gnd before trying the clock and data...
http://web.archive.org/web/20000226134635/htt … pinout.htm#PS/2

added: according to this: https://www.elhvb.com/mboards/vtech/strings/i430bios.html the board has Intel 430VX chipset and is MB520n,
if it is the manual is here: https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/pcpart … 58-xx#downloads

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Thank you very much Horun, you have been very helpfull. I made the wiring of the PS2 as described and the mouse funtioned at once. I am also very happy with the other documents you helped me find.

To be complete here the pin lay-out.
Pin 1 is at the side of the back of the PC.
Pin1: +5V
Pin2: NC
Pin 3: data
Pin 4: ground
Pin 5: clock.
