Like the title says, I'm trying to track down the final bios for the Gateway Essentials 700 (TB3 700) . Just trying to make sure it's fully upto date (that and at boot it's displaying the P3 700 CPU as a 700E

You should see the string 4W4SB0X0 somewhere on the screen when it boots.

it matched 4W4SB0X0.15A.0012.P07 on boot so looks like i had 2nd to last Bios version. strangely before, it was displaying a small gateway banner on the boot spaslh now it doesnt post updat ebut it solved a few issues i was seeing w/ Windows 98SE. (might of been down to an issue w/ my dvd burner in it but its gone now *shrug*) but now it does correctly display the CPU as a Pentium III 700 not a 700E. thanks!

If you downloaded the one from theretroweb then it's probably the generic Intel BIOS. Searching for the filename 7508736.exe from the Internet Archive record of the Gateway website led to http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=1473&menustate=0 which might get the Gateway banner back.

The one on Vogons Drivers & The Retro Web are the same version (P14-0019, based on the same 7508736.exe compressed update from Gateway)... P07-0012 is actually quite an early version if you check the attached BIOS history in the next link, which mentions a fix in P13-0018 to "Correct “A” and “E” processor suffix display"

This links to another version of the P14 update (vp14.exe), directly from the Gateway archive which, if you read to the end of the thread, seems to have maintained the Gateway splash on the POST screen...
