Does anybody know what the newest version of the BIOS is for a Gateway Profile 6 and where I can get it? The current BIOS is P02.P945G. I am trying to upgrade the CPU to a Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 2.66GHz. I have found a few threads online where people have been successful in doing so. One of them mentioned having to upgrade the BIOS first.

* Edit: I have managed to get it to P03.P945G. There are old threads online that talk about P06 BIOS, which I think was the last, but I can't find it anywhere.

Thanks. I actually just found and tried that one, but it will still not boot with the newer CPU. I think I need the P06 BIOS but I can't find it anywhere other than people talking about it on old threads.

Will look around but if Archive org or some mirror sites do not have a newer bios (very likely not) then you may be SOL. Maybe others will try to seek out a newer bios....

added: need more info !! There are multi Profile 6 desktops (as of Dec 2008): Profile 6 - 1008772, Profile 6 SB - 1008773, Profile 6C - 1008900, Profile 6 - 1014205R, Profile 6 - 1014209R.. and all are listed as 965
Any clue which it is ? Using way back I did not find any bios listed above P03, example from 2011: http://web.archive.org/web/20110415200906/htt … tNumber=1008900
also they all seem to point to a Intel 965 chipset not a 945 chipset (but who knows 🤣)...

Similar Horun - so far I've found old post references online to P06, P07 & P10 (is this an Intel OEM board?) but no actual files, though plenty of sites have P03.

What I did find on one of the Gateway archives was reference to there being different versions...all apparently called Profile 6, but any further links only lead to P03 at best

Profile 6 - 1008772
Profile 6 SB - 1008773
Profile 6C - 1008900
Profile 6 - 1014205R
Profile 6 - 1014209R

@rick12373, do any of those suffix nos. tie in with your system, or do you have an actual Gateway motherboard number by chance.

That's odd re. the 965...if you follow links from here...

https://web.archive.org/web/20080913033902/ht … file=pro_6.html

...you can eventually view the motherboards / drivers which always ends as 945G / P02,P03 or no available BIOS update listed

I will take a look when I get back to work. The computer is there at the moment. I tinker with it during the quieter times.

I had a look for serial numbers etc. This is what I found. Did some searching on the numbers and nothing came up. So I am not sure what revision I have.

Looks like a Pegatron manufactured motherboard (of which you will probably never find anything other than what the OEM {Gateway in this case} releases from my experiences, IBM used some Pega's too in some P4 NetVista's).
My bad on the 965, that forum was talking about drivers for same system and on Gateway it does say Intel 965 Graphics driver in 2011.....

added: my 2011 link above does allow DL of most of the files, just grabbed the User and Hardware guides plus those two bios files. Not sure where the other bios files mentioned are (maybe back in the some requested an update ?)
is all I got so far...

added2: none of the case/motherboard stickers even relate to Gateways listing: http://web.archive.org/web/20110416054149/htt … =2&modelId=2751
but am 1/2 blind so maybe missed something 🤣

Thx for the pics though, like @Horun , +1 for the additional futile searching using those rear label nos. against what Gateway reference on their web archive 😀

More generally, I was pondering a couple more angles...

...is this not an Acer motherboard (48.3F401.01M seems like their number styling, and online links also refer to 48.3F401.021 as Profile 6 board. The GW archive also references similar with WMD91.3F410.001G). TBH I'm not sure if the whole unit might not be Acer (seems similar to their Veriton AIO range) as by then they were already heavily partnered and this is around the time Acer finally bought out a large chunk of the GW corpse! (the Profile 6 launched in the US, April 2006). Maybe worth further checking the Acer Legacy file archive on Wayback.

...if you check those manuals / guides you'll see online support directs you to Micron PC (MPCCORP) support - they also bought the GW Professional Services Unit around the same time. Checked the MPCCORP archive and although their support index references the Profile 6, all further links are dead.

...to the BIOSes themselves - a real head scratcher. Have now found 4 different versions referenced - P06, P07, P08 & P10 (P08 from a Geekbench entry combo the same as you're hoping for - https://browser.geekbench.com/geekbench2/comp … e/957562/957562) but only two actual links to any of them - the P10 link on Wim's BIOS and this dead link on the Michigan University ftp - tasha.eecs.umich.edu/95/Gateway/Profile 6/BIO001273-01_BIOS_P10-P945G.exe

Pretty much out of ideas now though I notice your board shipped with P01 - did you update it to P02 or was it like that when you got the system. Was wondering if versions beyond P03 only shipped with new revision boards rather than as generally available updates

The BIOS it came with was P02. I did update it to P03. But it still didn't recognize the new CPU. I do have upgrades to max the RAM, add a SSD and also a GPU. I might just have to go with those. Some think the machine is ugly, but I kind of like it.

There seems to be a barcode and some text on a sticker on the bottom side of the top PCI slot in your board picture, can you try to get a clear picture of it ?

I can, but I will have to wait until Monday. It is in my office and I won't be there until then.

Took me a while to get the pictures of the stickers on the motherboard, but here you go...
