I'm trying to get my highest slot 1 CPU to run on my Asus p2B-F and its a SL47M, stats below
p3
850/256/100/1.65 Volts S1
SL47M
Since this is a 100 Mhz FSB CPU, I have the CPU External BUS Frequency set to 100 Mhz, and the highest multiplier I see is 8x. So is the highest CPU this motherboard can support with 100 Mhz FSB a 800 Mhz P3?
The ICS Chip near the ram is
9250BF-00 9916
CK920295
I didn't realize how much more efficient the newer P3 CPUs got. I don't even know if this can drive a P3 with 1.65 volts. Any of you guys have some experience with the p2b-f?
One thing I noticed while reading the manual is how many options I have to set the FSB to. Would setting the CPU External BUS Frequency to to following be an option?
103 Mhz CPU x 8 = 824
34 Mhz PCI
105 Mhz CPU x 8 = 840
35 Mhz PCI
I really don't want to mess with the PCI clock to anything over default. For modern systems its bad practice to run the PCI clock over its spec, and I would think this to be true back in the late 90's as well. This is old hardware so I'm really not looking to push anything. It took me very long time to get my hands on this board and I don't want to blow it up by over clocking. Again thank you for your time.
