I found an auction with a PC Chips M575 board which, in my opinion, is missing a BIOS chip. I'm not an expert, but there is a smaller chip inside the socket, or maybe it's the BIOS?

Yep, it's missing the EEPROM BIOS chip. It was common practice to "hide" a smaller chip under the BIOS socket to save board space.
