Recently picked up a Toshiba Tecra 740CDT. I installed windows 95 without issue and all was well. However, today, for seemingly no reason, it began posting very slowly. It flashes the bios copyright, checks the memory, then just hangs for 2-3 min with no sign of life. If then displays “starting windows 95” and boots normally. It used to boot in <30 seconds total.

Multiple reboots haven’t solved this.

Any ideas what went wrong? Is the drive failing in some way?

Managed to fix it! Pulled the battery (still holds its full charge haha) and held down the power button for a few minutes to clear the cmos. Restarted, set the cmos again, and it booted fast as it should!

It also detected the cd rom drive which it wasn’t before so maybe that was causing some issue

Guess the cmos got corrupted somehow?
