I have a couple of Toshiba laptops 220CS / 470 CDT / 490XCDT and 750 CDT. All of them should support DIMMs EDO 66MHz (as I have checked in the specification).

I have one memory stick - Transcend 32M 144P DIMM [C2] - 32MB and it is working...

I have however a couple of other memory sticks:
- IBM 32 MB 66MHz, FRU: 42H2819
- 128MB Kingston KTC-A1700/128
- 128MB Kingston KTD-INSP/128
- 64 MB NEC MC-458cd64s-a10b 9929xe046
- 64 MB Kingston KTC-A7800/64

and none of them is recognized in either of laptops..

From specification it seems the these sticks are 66MHz EDO, 3.3V as they should be. RAM sticks should be working - I have bought them as tested.

Is Toshiba having some specific one EDO that fits?

Anyone has this problem before?

Please help!

I have an older Toshiba CS too and it supports only certain modules, all the 32MB it supported ok but the larger ones were very hit and miss. I do not even know why some yes and some no.
Yes 66Mhz EDO should work in a CS220 but iirc something about chip density will make some not work. Sorry is all I got.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
