Hello folks,

I am currently working on an ASUS P55T2P4 and would be very happy if I could get a K6 III 450Mhz to run on it. Various sources have recommended to use the BIOS V207 BETA 2. Unfortunately, every posted download link is offline. Does anyone know where I can get this bios version. On the ASUS site, version 207 is posted without the BETA designation. But there is no file history of information which CPUs are supported with this version 🙁

I would be very happy about help.

Greetings
JF

That BIOS has been superseded by Jan Steunebrink's patched BIOS available on his page: http://www.steunebrink.info/k6plus.htm

Many thanks. Does this mean that's the best choice for the K6-III? I am a bit confused. In WWW everybody talk about latest revision 0207-2 from 04/28/99 but on the ASUS page 0207 from 07/08/98 is the latest one. Revision 0207-2 should already have all what i need for the K6-III but there are no sources to get it at ASUS. I would prever the unmodified version from ASUS because i don't need K6+ support 😉 .

Best regards,
JF

The support for the K6-2/3+ CPUs is irrelevant if you don't use one of those CPUs - in Jan's own words "Revision 0207-2 from 04/28/99 is actually the latest from Asus for this T2P4 board. This 0207-2 BIOS however is still limited to 32GB HDDs.
I used this 0207-2 BIOS to make a patch J.2 version with HDD support up to 128GB. This is exactly the same BIOS as LGR uses in the YouTube video you linked."

Re: Questions regarding the ASUS P/I-P55T2P4 rev 2.3

The closest I came to finding a live link for the 4/28/99 BIOS is the old Wim's BIOS page; it would still have been a patched one (for 128 gigabyte hard drives) but the download link for that particular BIOS is dead.

Hello Repo Man11,

thanks for your reply. I am using Jan's version, but my problem is that the BIOS with HDD size optimization is very slow in searching for drives on the IDE channels (not with older BIOS versions) and disabling the IDE controller causes the system to hang after the BIOS. I am using a Dawicontrol SATA controller which works without any problems and the best thing to do would be to disable the IDE controller to make the system boot faster. Therefore, I would like to use the latest BIOS version 0207-2 from ASUS without hard drive size optimizations. Unfortunately ASUS only offers 0207 from the end of 1998 and all links are dead. Any ideas?

Kind regards,
JF

Try sending Jan (Chkcpu) a message and see if he has any ideas. Chkcpu

Hi guys, I just saw this thread.
Haven't visited Vogons much lately, life and family matters are keeping me very busy. 😉

I should have the original 0207-2 BIOS somewhere, because I used it to make the patched version.
I will look it up tomorrow and post this BIOS here.

Found it! 😀
Here is the original 0207-2 BIOS from 04/28/1999 for the P55T2P4.

This BIOS supports your K6-III, but not the K6-2+/-III+ models. It is also limited to 32GiB HDDs and can't display CPU speeds above 400MHz.

B.t.w. do you know Kalle's great Asus P55T2P4 Rev 3.x page?

I've used this board with the available MR-BIOS V3.46 downloads on Vogons and it also supports 128GB drives.

V098B5WA - For P/I-XP55T2P4 (boards using Winbond 877 - I/O chip)
V098B5SA - For P/I-XP55T2P4 (boards using SMC 669 - I/O chip)
