As subject title suggests , I have a Asus P4VP-MX ,mb /motherboard ,
with VT8235+VIA VT8751 (P4M266) Via Chipsets on it.

The board is a salvage , trying to fix her, had a blown Realtek ALC655 chip , I disoldered the chip,
Power led is on , fan spins , gpu slot get's power , new 3v battery.

IT won't post (blank screen) - with onboard gpu or added Ati gpu....
Not sure what to do, (bios reset did not work).

the Via VT8235 is getting hot....(even just plugged in , not power cycled).

I really would love(like) to fix the board , not sure how to proceed.... (any further)....

On my MSI K8T Neo2 board the negative 5V rail provided by older ATX PSUs is mandatory. Using a newer ATX PSU without -5V results in no POST, no picture, dead as a stone. I've found on the net that the MSI K8N seems to have the same issue, maybe that's true for your board as well? Do you have an PSU that still has the -5V rail?

That's interesting info..... this applyes to P4VP-MX also? "

(I checked my PSU for testing , it was missing the -5V wire ) I will try to search one that has -5 cable/wire....

That's the sign of dead south bridge chipset, you can measure the resistance between the stanby 3.3v and ground with psu disconnected.
