I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction on this. I have a PowerVR PCX2 card which I have tried to get running and have concluded that it is probably faulty. I have tried it in several machines (Socket 7/8 Slot A) with windows 95 and 98se. and with several driver versions. I get the same issue every time. it crashes back to the desktop or dos prompt whenever you try to use it. sometimes with no information but a couple of the demos I tried listed a load of memory addresses. I don't know a great deal about trouble shooting hardware issues like this but I assume the first place to look in this case is a faulty memory chip? I have looked at the card and cannot see any physical damage on any pins or traces. I have done enough soldering in the past to want to have a go replacing the memory chips but I cant find out what chips I need to buy. the codes on the current ones don't bring anything up about them. Do any of you know what chips I could buy now that would be suitable replacements for these? or if I should be checking anything else before replacing them.
