I reconfigured my 1998 build yesterday and decided to switch from a Gigabyte BX-2000+ to an ASUS P2B-F (against my better judgement, curiosity got me) and I am having a strange cold start issue with the system. Whenever I try to turn it on, the system turns on for a second, the fans start spinning then it shuts down. If I try to turn it back on immediately, I get nothing. If I turn it back on a few seconds later it turns on and works perfectly fine.

Capacitor issue? There is only one capacitor I think may be slightly swollen on the board and that is near the SIMM slots so I doubt it has to do with power delivery at all. (I should have noticed and replaced that before building the thing, but now it's a project for another day).

Does anyone know why such behaviour would happen and whether it's normal for these boards?
