I bought a hard disk (IBM DHAS) to use inside my Amiga1200 and I discovered that instead of having a 50 pin connector (perhaps a small one given that it is a 2.5" disk), it has a 40 pin connector... but I will be able to connect it to the card that has a mini 50pin connector?

Ive heard of 44 pin connectors but they are IDE, can you post a pic of the connector ?>

Poking around on Google seems to suggest you are going to need to build an adapter or source one to get that IBM DHAS drive to work on a standard 50pin cable, so its possible but itll be a pain if you dont have any experience in making cables.

if this is the same scsi hard drive as is used in an older mac powerbook or a digital multia alpha, then good news for you.

a guy in Paris, France sells an adapter, ebay item 115616339786 , user aberco. I bought one last month, haven't found the time to use it yet.

if it isn't, then ignore.

also, if you're wondering why that connector has 50 pins... it's because the ID pins and LED connection is on the extra 10 pins.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

The GVP 1208 SCSI/8MB RAM adapter for the A1200 has a 40-pin SCSI port on it. Not common at all, but hopefully follows the same pin-out that mkarcher posted above.

As said above, the standard internal drive in a stock A1200 is IDE, not SCSI. A usual 2.5 IDE drive should work.

If it's for use in a sidecar extension, it depends on the manufacturer and model of extension.
