Hi! At my mother's house, I have a Win98SE tower, and connected to it is an Iomega Parallel Zip100 drive. Unfortunately, it's slow. 🙁 I also have an IDE Zip100 drive I can install. However, I have problems: how easy is it to install? I have little experience with the hardware of the computer. Also, I don't even know if the computer is IDE. Any help would be appreciated.

Very easy if it's a (rarer) true IDE model, which is like a CF with adapter (= give or take the removable bit, is a non-hotswappable accurate-ish simulation of a regular HDD)

Quite easy if it's the common ATAPI type (needs a driver like the official Guest, may not work with "smart" IDE active controllers, can be bootable depending on firmware support)

Would be unlikely to have a PC of that time without IDE but never say never 😀

Think Win98 even has drivers built in
but you can also find them here

I thank both of you. I might be able to install the drive myself but would prefer that a professional install it. The parallel drive is good for now, though.
