Was wondering if DOSBOX could ever be used as a system video driver to simulate a crt on oled or LED displays on linux, windows, haiku or other os? Have noticed libretro-api. Was hoping that something like reshade or Special K could be implemented as a system level software driver. Additional video bling could provide more features to systems. Such as lower latency, picture in picture, easier-to-use video profile selection, more hardware flexibility... system wide 8-bit color
Non-related Example: Was able to for example use an amiga monitor on an snes in the past. DOSBOX Staging and X look fun if they were used re-implemented into a display driver with sub-pixel shading or who knows what?... I also found out there is a standard vga driver windows uses that might be called vga.sys
