Yeah, Germany loves to dub everything, including movies and games. I speak the language fluently, so this isn't a huge issue for me, but the censorship is another matter entirely. Things can get pretty crazy in that regard.

The only games which I wholeheartedly recommend getting in German are the ones that were made by German developers. Those aren't censored in any way, the German voice overs are usually excellent, and some of the local humor can get lost in the translation to English. As an example, I greatly prefer playing the Gothic and Risen games in German. It just feels right.

It is for me. For my collection I have a strong preference for the original English/international release even over my own native language localization.

Stopped by a store I sometimes go to to find X360/PS3 games.
I hoped I find a copy of Motorstorm: Pacific Rift. I got a white DS3 and a Saints Row instead.

I hear that the original German voice acting for the Gothic series is quite good. Luckily, the English translation was not ruined and has quite a bit of uncanny charm to it as well.

Speaking of Gothic, this is the game that tipped my Pentium 4 system off the scale and I came to understand that RAM is important. My system had 256MB of memory and there wasn't much free memory available after XP booted up. Gothic is a huge memory hog, and would hitch and stutter terribly. When I read the box later, I found that it recommended 512MB of memory.

This computer was an early Pentium 4 with RDRAM that had to be installed in pairs, and was an extremely expensive upgrade at the time. I ended up shelving the game at the time and saved my money towards what would be my next upgrade into an Athlon 64.

Yeah, the Gothic games needed a lot of RAM (for the time) to run smoothly.

Probably due to the sheer size of the game world and all the complex NPC schedules.

Gonna need a beast of a system to run my latest pickup... A Pentium at one HUNDRED and 33 megahertz.. damn if it was 1996 I'd be in trouble...

Was looking at a couple of big boxes like BF1942 but they were battered to hell, falling apart, probably didn't have all materials inside, and priced like they were NOS, so passed.

Gothic 3 found at savers for 2 bucks.

After this, I finally picked up a Call of Duty: World at War. Just happened to see on a trading site with the location of my town. An hour later I had it in my hands. It's in over all worse condition than the first one. The manual has some wear and the disc is covered in fine scratches, but it it installs and plays without issues, but it was cheap. That's one more item crossed off the list.

Also picked up a silicone cover for my white PS3 controller.

Recently bought Unreal Tournament III (from 2007) for 10 EUR. Pictured here along with some of my other physical games from the WinXP era.

I only got around to backing up my UT3 disc today. It's much appreciated that there is no copy protection, other than the CD key which is required for online play. Makes preserving the game a lot easier. Furthermore, the PC Gaming Wiki stated that retail keys can be activated on Steam, so I did that, and now have a digital copy of the game as well. Good times!

Yup, got all the patches and the free Titan Pack DLC as well. I like having all that stuff when I archive my discs.

That said, my retail CD key activated as the Black Edition on Steam, which I assume already includes everything.

Kings quest mask of eternity (just the disk in original jewel case). Never played it and Ihave incredibly low expectations. But I had to buy it for 1$ because it had a 3dfx logo on it.

It's definitely the worst in the series. The textures floating around on the faces of polygons as the camera moves around is also somewhat nauseating.

It's not a great game but rather an odd and trippy retro experience. Still worth it to complete the series. I own the boxed version.

Oh. There are also sliding puzzles. Because it's an early 3D game so of course there are sliding puzzles!

Found a boxed copy of Starcraft at goodwill for $7, CD label says its version 1.05b. It came with manual and some other stuff still in the box.

Well, that was an unexpected but very welcome find. It contains the players guide and the install instructions for both the floppy and Cd versions. No map, no codex, but who am I to complain?

Today I got the game no one ever bought yet everyone complains about not having a sequel.

The box in good condition, the discs are as if they were brand new.

Played it on PS3 ans it was cool, but didn't kill the last boss. Was no savepoint and I needed to go to bed. Then I forgot about it. :-p
