Does anybody know how to use the case audio speaker from lenovo/hp computers on a non oem motherboard. I would like to reuse an e72 thinkcentre case with the handle for a win98 build.

Does the mainboard have amplified audio for unpowered speakers? If yes you could tap into the signal. You just have to either mute the speaker with a switch when plugging in speakers or hope the connector for the speakers is a switching one that can deactivate the internal speaker when you plug in real speakers.
I have a fujitsu siemens pc wich also can route the soundcard to the internal speaker, but the routing of the sound is done in software (wich doesnt work without the right realtek driver installed). Im not sure if any non OEM board ever had this feature...
