You knew it had to happen sooner or later and now it has.

All I can say is this: too bad so sad.
I for one won't miss them. Never had a need to "visit" sites like that (and have better things to do with my time anyway 😜 ).
Ooohh, the pain......
I buy legit music, games, and ebooks, but have been dragging my heels on deciding on a legit provider for movies / TV shows. This is a good reminder to get off my butt and cut my last ties to the seedy world (pun intended) of illegal downloads.
Whenever I look at buying movies on iTunes I'm horrified at the prices - I only want to watch them once generally speaking. Does anyone here have a good online source for movies / TV that a) has a decent range of stuff and b) isn't prohibitively expensive? Netflix is getting serious about the AU soon I read, so that might be an option.
Life? Don't talk to me about life.
The thing I will miss will being able to download some things that would cost a ridicules amount of money to buy. I am sorry but if buying 4 seasons of a Anime will cost $200+ (believe it or not) then sorry, I am going to download it. With that said from what I understand the site is already up and running again 🤣

I used torrents on piratebay to obtain games I can't install due to messed up discs again. I had to do this for shogo, descent 3 and even Unreal Gold and Unreal Tournament.
I wonder if there's going to be a massive riot demonstration somewhere in Sweden as a result of the shutdown.

I seriously doubt there will be anything like that. What will the protesters complaint about, not being able to download torrents 😜 ?
As for messed up game discs, I have both Descent 3 and Unreal Gold and never had any problems installing and playing them, from Windows 95A to Windows 7 64.
Ooohh, the pain......
My real messed up scratched discs are actually shovelware collections. My game discs with "bad sectors" (such as UT) are for copyright protective purposes.
I buy all my DVD, Bluray disc, games etc...
Saying that it's too expensive to buy is wrong. There is always discount on films, games etc... you just need to wait some months...
As I have a lot to do, there are many movies I bought that I haven't watched yet. So I can wait for discount on new ones...

There's always a question of ethics and legality connected with this issue. Of course, it is completely illegal to pirate music/movies and whatever else. Things get a little weird once you start inserting ethical reasoning. Everybody has their own standards and moral grounds.
I stand somewhere in between, but I can't deny that this is pretty big news. After all, The Pirate Bay is responsible for torrents reaching the masses, at least in part. On the other hand, I feel like this is kinda like the Lernaean Hydra, you cut off one of its heads, two more will grow. Besides, isohunt already restored the tracker (although I haven't really looked into that).
Its easy to buy when you have money to spend.
Its stupid to hold down progress of individuals that will benefit everyone just because they can not purchase the adequate tools/materials (which they are getting by spending no ones resource).
If you think a movie will sell more tickets because it can not be found pirated than you are mistaking. Piracy is getting them more views in cinema (see pirated movie, like it, go view it on grand screen).
Its plain logic, if youre afraid some one will copy something that is 100% easy to copy with no effort what so ever, than dont distribute digital copies.

I still get the bulk of my movies on DVD, but Amazon Prime Instant Video is pretty slick from the bits that I've played around with it. You have to have Prime to use it, but I assume many people already have that (and it isn't an additional up-charge from Prime). It has quite a lot of things that are "free" (that is, you pay for Prime annually as normal, and then there's lots of things that aren't additional expense to use via their streaming service). I've also had a good experience with Flixster, but I'm not sure what they charge if you're actually buying the movies as digital-only content (I use it with those coupons that DVDs/Blu-rays include - it's worked well thus far, and their customer service has been great).

Oh well... One of the founder, has told that it was a big pile of messy shit coding, that PB has become.
He said that it was badly coded anyway, so he is not that sad anyway.
Hmmm....
One keeps wonder, if those who obtain illegal porn, would miss PB or not?

Why would you use TPB for porn? Wouldn't be quicker to watch youporn?
If you mean illegal (not copyright infringement but something really illegal) then I doubt people using that are using any public trackers although I'm sure there are some idiots out there.

There will always be a new thing. 😀
Getting TV series or movies in original English language was one of the few reasons I went to PB. It's still not easy to get them close to release if you ever get to see them in original language (without waiting ages for DVD release and pay more for importing the UK or US version - not to mention region lock hell). Most online shops suck (or are not avilable) when you are from Europe and want original versions. If you then also want subtitles... Hell....
