I'm curious, what's the worst colour schemes you guys ever seen in your life? I'll start first:
The "Space Pigs" preset on Fasttracker II:

Pretty sure that one was designed to be awful as a little poke in the ribs to TSP. But yeah, yick. 😜
Worst one I've had to deal with lately, the "classic" AMI bios scheme, seen here on my 386 board. Who at AMI approved this? Who looked at it and thought it was a good idea??

I think the idea there is that the text should be legible even with a malfunctioning video card or monitor.
Is this too much voodoo?
Those AMIBIOS colors looked nice tbh. Even their WinBIOS incarnations
You can't have this thread without the infamous hotdog stand.

Looks almost like they wanted it to be a OS of itself, what with that calendar going on in the bottom right hand corner.

I'm afraid to ask why it's called "hotdog stand".

I think your mind is taking you to places you don't need to go. It's called "hotdog stand" because it looks like ketchup and mustard.

I wish people wouldn't take my words out of context...
And here's another thing to show, and this is on the Amiga of all things:

What in the world?
Is this made for some tricky display signal or something?

That's the first thing I thought of!
The CGA palette. What were they thinking?

I think the CGA palettes had some technical reason behind them (easy logical combinations of colors in low memory) but I can't remember exactly how it worked. But I still think that cyan/magenta/black/white one should have never been the default.
On another note, I always hated the "90s eyeball-shock-therapy green" they used for the backdrop in Atari TOS. Yech.

I get eyestrain looking at that Atari TOS screenshot.
And yeah I always wondered about the CGA's hardware designed, and why it let's 8088 MPH do what it does.

Not nearly as extreme as some of the cases shown here, but X-Com Apocalypse had a pretty awful palette, it just looked wonky and somehow out of place. Coming off from the first title in the series which I absolutely love, Apocalypse has always felt like a weird experience.
Not sure if this would count but:

Black Velvetopia, from Psychonauts
The first time I played this level I thought that game datafiles were corrupt.
I have traveled across the universe and through the years to find Her.
Sometimes going all the way is just a start...
Doom 3 😉

Maybe you should not use the "Stevie Wonder / Ray Charles mod".

Reminds me of MOTHER 2's "Moonside" area.
