Tyan S1564 dual Socket 7 motherboard, $40 starter bid. "Untested" but I think this is actually not a "broken but I'm not telling you" case.

Been eyeing this big MF for a while. With free shipping that's a pretty good deal, but you may want to message seller first so you don't get a cracked screen.

Alas, no shipping to the UK!

What is so special about that board?

Absolutely nothing unique at all about it. It's a bog-standard 486 motherboard with a common cyrix 486 chip in it. They're charging at least double what it should be. I've seen other listings for 486 boards with cpu with more accessories for less money on ebay recently.

It seems fairly evident you don't really know much about 386/486 hardware. For one... it's not a bog standard 486 motherboard... it is probably amongst the fastest of the 386 motherboards available which is a treat given it's a hybrid board... as in... both 386 and 486's can be used on it.

Secondly... it's not "a common Cyrix 486 chip on it"... it is the Drx2 33/66, the best 386 chip Cyrix ever made!.

Thirdly... it has 4 x 4MB simms = 16MB which these days are quite expensive by themselves.

I think you should understand a bit more of the hardware that is listed here before you make reckless claims and express your opinions so openly

A couple of interesting graphics boards: -

One might be a capture board... not sure, but has 2MB VRAM and is dual VGA: -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/RAR-DUAL-VGA-Mi ... 3046919567

The other is listed as a SBC... but doesn't have any CPU... only the i960! it also has an S3 968 chip... never seen one of those on an ISA bus card... odd!

I haven't had a laugh this good in days. If you're not serious about this item then bugger off and go bother someone else." So.. yep, they're one of those "I'm going to insist on stupidly high prices for all of my old gear because "vintage" stuff" type sellers.

It is unfortunate that you use your energy to berate and antagonise me not only on eBay, but also here. Why you need to lie, and so extensively is beyond me.

Your offer was a derisory $15, not $50 like you suggest, and I would never dream of using such dialogue, it's a pity that you feel the need to.

Yeah I pm'd him a ways back, I don't recall the details and I deleted the PM, but he said something about being busy or the retro hobby taking up to much time and needed a brake. Or something like that, don't hold me to it, it was about a month ago.

It wouldn't shock me if it had something to do with the drop in overall maturity level here.

I think I mentioned long ago, I don't blame him for being a shill. Free hardware? HELL YEA? I'd do the same. The problem is, most people here HATE those companies like electomyne. So the blow-back for this particular company is really the issue here.

And that's why we have a whole thread on the subject now.

Maybe. VOGONs is slowly descending into the 10th level of hell.
