I only have 6 machines, all custom-built, and probably only 4 of them (in bold) get regular use:

- Main Desktop (i5-3470, R9 290X, 16GB DDR3, 256GB+128GB SSDs, 1TB WD Black, Silverstone TJ08E, Win10)
- 24/7 Plex/File Server (i3-3220, 8GB DDR3, Dell PERC H310, 5x 3TB WD Red, 5x various WD Green drives, Antec Three Hundred full of Noctuas, Ubuntu Server 15.10)
- Q4 2003 Machine (P4 3.2HT Northwood, FX5950Ultra 256MB, 4x 512MB Corsair XMS, Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, dual 36GB WD Raptors, Bitfenix Comrade Black, WinXP)
- Q4 1999 Machine (P3 500MHz Coppermine, G400, 2x Voodoo2 12MB, SB Live! Platinum, AWE64 Gold, Promise Ultra66, 2x 40GB Matrox HDDs, Bitfenix Comrade White, Win98SE+DOS)
- Socket 7 Machine (P166, Matrox G200, Voodoo1, SB AWE32 CT3900, Terratec TT1816, Highscreen AT case, DOS 6.22)
- HTPC/Lounge Room Gaming (C2D E8400, 9800GTX+ 1GB, 60GB SSD, Xbox controllers, Win8.1)

I also don't have any parts to build any more, and my wife likes to keep it that way! 🤣 I'm thinking of getting rid of either the P4 rig or the DOS rig, as they don't get anywhere near as much use as I'd like.

Trouble is, due to space constraints, most of these PCs are at my folk's place. I only have room for a few machines in my appartment 🙁 - for now 😈

The lists posted by kanecvr and others are just amazing I think!
I think I might actually get inspired to do a count of all the (retro)rigs that are still operational, opening up every single system to check for the parts I used and put the list here 😁

I have too many. Some recent changes might force me to actually sell most of it as I can't use my parents house for storage any more. I hope I can keep everything there till Spring as I don't have the time needed to prepare everything.

I'm afraid of that happening to me as well. My dad has been nagging me about all the computer pats in his garage and attic for a couple of years now. Hopefully I'll be moving to a bigger apartment in a few months and I'll be able to make a computer room there to house my collection. At least until/if a kid arrives.

I myself have been inspired by people here on vogons. Some users have incredible collections of working PCs and rare PC parts - compared to them, my stuff is crap 😁

Well, my brother is moving back in and doesn't need rooms full of "old junk". I just hope we find and buy a house as apartment is too small to have a large room for myself and with another baby on the way it's mission impossible 😊

Collectors. 😀 For possible practical usage (while most have it limited) it needs 2-3 machines. If not to take emulators into account wich have made DOS machines rather useless already and same awaits other periods stuff sometimes. Could be good for museums, but most these computers will go to dump sometimes.

Stuff going to dumps, are like stupid and insane. Just saying.....
Better setting up ad's on Amibay or Ebay or something, or as said, give away to museums.
Never ever throw out stuff. If something is to be sold, then a low price should do the trick.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....

- socket A boards - Asrock K7NF2-RAID, Gigabyte GA-7VAX, EPoX EP-8RDA3i
- socket 370 boards - EPoX EP-3SPA3, ASUS TUV4x (Apollo PRO133)
- socket 7 boards - too many to count - most notable: AOpen AX59Pro super 7 ATX, Asus P5A super 7 ALi, FIC PA-2010+ socket 7 ATX, Asus TX97e and a ton of VIA MVP3 AT boards from Soyo, Jetway and Lucky Star
- socket 3 boards - 2xFIC 486-VIP-IO, Pine 423B (UMC chipset), 2xLucky Star LS-486E and some ISA only stuff

Trouble is, due to space constraints, most of these PCs are at my folk's place. I only have room for a few machines in my appartment 🙁 - for now 😈

That's.... Uhmmm.... 😳 That's an serious nice collection. Love to read about other people's choices of build.
And this is just like an insanely great list. Jawdropping. 😜

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....

Okay, here's my (small) list that i'll update as systems come and go:

- 1991 486SX PC (WIP): 486SX 25 mobo, 8mb RAM, ACUMOS AVGA1, and a random Panasonic FDD and a random CD drive from 1995 (I don't have HDD yet or 5.25" FDD). I plan to run DOS 5+Win3.11 on it. Will be for DOS and early Windows games.

- 1998 Cyrix MII PC (Doesn't work): Cyrix MII-333 mobo, 128mb RAM, ATI Rage 128 (That's what's faulty), no FDD (Put it in 1991 build), 4gb HDD and an ASUS 50x CD Drive from 2001. I believe it ran Windows 98 SE in its past life.

- 1999 Blueberry iMac G3: 350mhz PPC Processor, ATI Rage 128, 512mb RAM, 128gb HDD and a faulty slot loading CD Drive. Runs OS X Puma. I use it for Mac stuff, which is rarely.

- 2000 COMPAQ Deskpro EN PIII: COMPAQ Pentium III 900mhz mobo with integrated VGA graphics, 20gb Quantum Fireball HDD, 512mb of RAM, and a bog standard compact disc drive and 3.5" FDD. Runs Windows 98 FE PLuS! and is my main late 90s early 2000s Windows gaming PC.

- 2002 Athlon PC: MSI KT4 Athlon XP 1.2 ghz mobo with ATI Radeon 7000 video card and some integrated sound card no one cares about 1 RICOH DVD drive and a 54x CD Drive + 1.3gb RAM and a 320gb HDD with unactivated WinXP on it. It was a free pickup and I'll most likely remove some RAM and put a 30gb HDD and put Win98 or ME on it.

- 2004 Acer Travelmate 2300: Oldest laptop I have, Celeron M laptop mobo 256mb RAM 30gb HDD ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 and WinXP. Am in the process of selling.

- 2005 Dell Inspiron 2200: Celeron M 1.4ghz, 512mb RAM, 60gb HDD, ugh idk. Tried to make it a Hackintosh, failed at that. Tried installing Gentoo on it, also failed.

- 2005 HP nc4200: My main laptop. Pentium M 1.8 ghz, Intel integrated graphics, 1gb RAM and a 60gb HDD plus WinXP Pro.

- 2010 HP Pavillion p6720f: Standard HP Pavillion whatever mobo with a 2.8ghz Phenom II 840T processor, ATI Radeon HD 4200, 6gb RAM, 1tb HDD, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. My main desktop.

- 2011 Dell Latitude e6420: Core i5 laptop mobo and integrated graphics. 4gb RAM? 256gb SSD + Win7 Pro. Slower than my HP laptop and almost never use which is why I don't even know its specs.

- 2014 Dell Inspiron 15 3537: Low spec (4gb RAM, 1.4 ghz Celeron, 320gb HDD, Win8.1) that I do not know what to do with.

PCs of mine which I no longer have:

- 2008 Dell Dimension 9200, Windows Vista (Don't know edition), was sold by my family in 2011 and replaced with the HP p6720f.

Busy cutting mine down, I have too many right now to actually enjoy using the ones I want to. This started about like a quest to try as much as possible but now I'm just sort of stacking it all in a corner. 🤣 Honestly miss the days when I had only one or two and had no money to buy the ones on ebay and no idea where to get them locally. 🤣

I'll probably take some pics when I dig out all the ones I want to keep. 😜

That said anyone who lives near Antioch IL and would like some computer equipment hit me up cause I'm looking to get rid of an Apple IIC, Apple IIGS, Apple iMac (original bondi blue) and misc software etc.

I had a whole room dedicated to storage at one point. I still have quite a bit but no where near the over 40 machines I originally had.

EDIT: Also just looked and apparently I started this thread? 🤣 I don't even remember doing that but I've both gotten rid of a lot of machines and gained a lot of other machines since then. 🤣

Yars it's amazing how many PC's some of you guys have. I've been selling off / giving away a lot of my stuffs over the last few months and feeling good about it. I was collecting for 4-5 years, refining my machines, then looking for backups of the hardware I deemed important - too many "things" in my life as a result, weighing on my soul 😢

In saying that I still have lots! PC's:

C64
286
386
486
P166MMX
PIII
P4

Life? Don't talk to me about life.

Yep there's a point when you stop owning them and they start owning you. 🤣 I feel like Bilbo when he is talking to gandalf about whether to give the ring to Frodo at the beginning of the Fellowship of the Ring sometimes. Guess I'm just addicted to collecting. 🤣
