Unfortunately it costs twice as much. My budget for GPU is $200 tops.

RX580 hands down then, I have no hesitation with this recommendation.

If you want to play computer games then your best bet is build your own computer.
Or you can buy an iMac for $3000.

Yes, it’s the same scenario today that it was in 1993 with the 486 computer.
You can build your own or buy an all-in-one Macintosh color Classic which sold for $1400 in 1993

In 1993 the Multimedia computer was first becoming available to the consumer market.
With sound cards, high resolution video cards and displays and CDROM drives.
It was all NEW state of the era tech of early 1990’s

So if you wanted a good 486 computer for playing games you wanted a 486dx2-66 at least with 4x CDROM and 16mb of RAM which would have costs a small fortune back in 1994.
About $3500

Today to build a good gaming computer you need a good video card, CPU and Display, lots to RAM and good motherboard.

Intel or AMD CPU ?
6 cores at least.
Nvidia GTX 2080 or AMD 5700
32gb DDR4 ram
Good motherboard with good sound and networking.
NVme SSD.
Etc.

About $3500 with 4K Display. And good speakers.

So really NOT much has changed from 1993 to today.
The price remains about the same for a good gaming computer.

$3500 seems to be the magic number.

It depends on what you want to play and at what detail.
The computer I asked advice on costs me exactly $525 without a PSU, case, SSD and monitor.
It will handle anything 2020 can offer and hopefully beyond. If I had to buy everything it still wouldn't be over $750. Nowhere near $3500. A $3500 computer is for hardcore gamers who want to pump every last FPS out of a game at the highest possible detail.

Man, are you even reading after yourself? I really doubt it honestly...

No, for a good gaming PC you don't need 4K monitor... And even with it, you would have a really hard time to spend $3500 on reasonable PC gaming build... And anyway, why are you throwing such a amount of money here, when OP clearly stated, that his budget is limited, and for GPU he wants to spend $200 max...

Please go back to your comput... Ehm, iPad, thanks...

I bought my 4K monitor for 230 euro brand new, and it’s an excellent display. It even came factory calibrated and with an individual color calibration report. So no, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a high quality 4K screen.

You can build a damn good gaming rig + monitor for under $1500, hell. even under $1200. Quit speaking out of your ass.

Yes, For 1080p gaming it can be done fo less. But you still want to build your own computer if you want to choose your own components. Just like back in 1993.

6-core CPU
16mb ram
1080p display
Good motherboard with WiFi , Sound optional if you want to add a Sound Blaster ?
NVme SSD
Hard drive for storage
Good case with good air flow and cooling.
Good CPU cooler or water cooler.
Good Power supply
UPS for backup power in a power outage.
Good speakers like the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1

So about $1000

Or just buy a all-in-one basic iPad for $300
Logitech ultra thin keyboard. $35
Bluetooth speaker - $25

Except for inflation. Take that same $3,500 figure in 1993 and convert it to 2019 and you are looking at close to $6,200.

So prices have actually gone down.
Take $3,500 today and it would have been equivalent to a little less than $2,000 in 1993.

Well, If you just want 1080p gaining then you might was well get an iPad.
With Retina display and build in UPS for power outages.
Touch screen and everything you need.

You can’t build a PC with iPad specs for the price of an iPad. $300

I’m reading your nonsense on an iPad, and that’s about all it’s good for.

Played through Metro Exodus on mixed medium/high settings this year on my rx 480 8gb X5650 setup. Stock cpu clock speeds it was still a very enjoyable experience in 1080p with a pretty solid 60fps. Now that iv got a nice water cooler the intermittent frame drops down into the 20fps range in some CPU heavy areas should go away. So definitely seconding the modern 6 core 12 thread advice and rx 580 8gb combo. Get a nice motherboard and later on down the road you could drop a used Ryzen 3900x and double your core/thread count. Which is nice.
Main pc: Asus Rampage Gene ii, X5650, 250gb Samsung Evo, RX480, 12gb Crucial DDR3 1600.
