Upgraded my main PC from an FX6100 to a Ryzen 3600.

Gigabyte B550 Gaming X, 16GB DDR4 3200, 1GB m.2 SSD and a Ryzen5 3600.

This was probably the fastest OS install Ive ever experienced. Even with my old GTX960 holding things back, theres a noticable performace improvement. In Total War games fast forwarding in batlle actually works properly now and in large battles unit AI no longer freezes. Transition times from the maps to battles are MUCH quicker. TF2 now gives my card coil whine with 300+ FPS...

My only gripe is the crappy cooler. I would have used my trusty 212 evo, but the mounting holes changed. The included all-alluminum kept revving up and down with default settings and I could hear it change speeds with just a small difference from 2000 to 2200. It was set for 2000 for <50C and 2200 for >50C. Since idle and light browsing keeps it around 50, it was getting VERY annoying.

Now its 2200 for up to 60C and max for anything over. Will change the cooler for something better anyway.

Also, while thrifting for retro stuff I instead found:

Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2 motherboard - LGA1156 board with 4GB DDR3 1333RAM and an i5 760.
ECS MCP61M M3 motherboard - AM3 with a quad core Athlon2 635.

They werent in the best condition when I got them, but for 15 Euro I decided to risk it and they both work! Feels weird how quad core systems are 10+ years old now and being discarded. Pretty sure that i5 could ouperform the FX6100 I replaced in quite a few games 🤣

My builds!
The FireStarter 2.0 - The wooden K5
The Underdog - The budget K6
The Voodoo powerhouse - The power-hungry K7
The troll PC - The Socket 423 Pentium 4

I got this nifty Roccat Sova MK couch keyboard for gaming on the TV in games where a gamepad is less than suitable. Pretty good for FPS games and such. Mouse was not included so that's seperate.

Got this keyboard for my ASUS EeePC. I don't need the switch lights but it fits in the bag very nicely.

I just looked that up and that case is awesome. I might have to buy it now and put my Pi into it.

You can reuse your Am3+ mounting hardware and your Hyper 212 with am4. The only only difference with am4 is some of thr coolers screw down into the holes the am3+ brackets screwed down into for the latch to hold onto.

How much did you pay ?

Seems like these things are ridiculously expensive... 🤔
....but quite nifty, yes indeed....

From what I understand the MSRP for the Roccat Sova MK was USD$199. I got mine, new in box on eBay for USD$90 + USD$30 to ship it to Canada. Mouse not included. 😜

I can, but I need to buy a separate new mounting adapter. 212 doesnt hook onto latches, which remained the same, but screws into mounting holes, which were moved for AM4.

This might not be an actual piece of "hardware", but it's close enough, I guess.
Anyway, on Christmas Eve, I got a little ornament in the design of a laptop with Christmas lights and a Santa hat on top.

Especially if ya have the receipt, CoolerMaster may just send you the mounting kit. Mine was bought new in 2014 and came with all the Am3+ lever mechanism stuff.

Free Z77 motherboard, 24gb of ddr3, and a i5 3570k. That makes a i5 2500k and a i5 3570k spare that need to find homes.
