Inventory databases used and still use nothing more than text-mode.
I've seen these Clipper style applications a lot in the past decades. They're still in use, work fine.
In fact, I still see no need to upgrade to VGA here. Hercules isn't CGA, after all. It's a serious and dependable thing.
Places I saw those applications: Multimedia shops, computer shops, electronic shops, department stores..
Sometimes, they ran them windowed in a DOS box on modern Windows, even.
The ancient text-mode applications are being run on recent PCs with LCD monitors, too.
Personally, I'm still using an old solid-state/semi-conductor database on my XT. ^^
