Recently got this email from SomaFM (whom I donated money to and enjoyed immensely). It has some good links on it (to places where you can send faxes to your representatives. Check it out.

Hey everyone... just a hopefully quick update on what's up with SomaFM:

SomaFM Live in San Francisco
----------------------------

Tonite (August 12th) is SomaFM night at Tranquility Base in San Francisco
at 26 Mix. It's just 2 blocks from the 24th street Bart Station at 26th
and Mission (near Caesar Chavez). Parking is easy.

Join us for deliciously chilled ambient beats and grooves, pretty visuals,
tasty cocktails. Tonite's DJs are DJ Pie and Dagny, and Rusty has a few
special treats in store as well.

Internet Radio Fairness Act
---------------------------

The Internet Radio Fairness Act has just been introduced to congress. If
passed, this bill would allow SomaFM to return to the air. We need you
to send a fax to your representatives asking them to support the
Internet Radio Fairness Act. It will only take 3 minutes to fill out the
form! We would also like you to call your representatives at their
offices and ask them to support the Internet Radio Fairness Act as well.
We need to bombard them with requests. Call them at their offices. Call
them once a week. Tell your friends to do the same thing.

There are a whole bunch of different faxes you can send here:

Send a different fax every day! Call, write, email, fax over and over.
We need to get the point across that Congress must act now to save
independent internet radio stations. A BROAD AND DIVERSE INTERNET RADIO
INDUSTRY NEEDS TO SURVIVE SO THAT *ALL* ARTISTS CAN BE FAIRLY
COMPENSATED FOR THEIR WORK.

SomaFM at Burning Man!

You've heard of Burning Man, the annual festival of art, music and
general silliness that takes place in the Nevada desert. 20,000
people go out to the desert playa, create a city from scratch, erect a
giant man and burn it. Imagine Mad Max meets a rave in the parking
lot of a Dead show next to a nudist art colony, and you're starting
to get the idea.

SomaFM will be at Burning Man, broadcasting on 102.3 FM. This is our
7th year on 102.3, we feel it is our duty to "chill the Playa".

Groove Salad all day, Downtempo at night, Drone Zone late at night
and in the mornings. We'll be in the Irrational Geographic village,
on or near the Esplanade at "270 degrees". Come say hi.

Financial Support
-----------------

(What good is a newsletter without "passing the plate"?)

We could still use your financial support. We've spent money on legal
fees to file appeals, and have a lot of unpaid expenses from winding
down the broadcasts. If you have listened to SomaFM over the last year
and never donated, we could really use your help. Any amount helps.

Thanks for reading all the way down to here.

And remember,

SomaFM Loves you!

Yes, it’s my fault.
