somebody must have the CT1750/CT1759 (SB16 MCD) retail disks somewhere... who would've thought these are harder to find than the SB16SCSI ones, especially since the latter was so much more expensive back in the days! that's probably the last and most unneeded thing I'm looking for

as for my SB16 CD.... I bought it direct from creative after I gave up trying to get the retail install disks from people (dialup hell BBS days and crappy internet made this hard)... I had to bend over and accept $19.43 US shafting from them... but at least I finally got a legit sought after copy of VoiceAssist! It came packaged in a shrink wrap cardboard package with a CD driver instructions book, a CD driver floppy, VoiceAssist floppy, and the SB16 CD... I still have all the packaging, including the mailing envelope, invoice and money order stub!

my newer SB16 CD came with a SB16 Pro I bought at a swap meet in about 2000, when I needed it to throw together a P200 Win98 box for my dad... still have it and it works

my CT2230 OTOH, was my first SB16 bought in late 1994... OEM version, and had the crappy software... after I found out I got screwed by creative because of the software, this started my quest in finding the better retail versions which came with more apps/utils... which were really cool and useful back in the days! I damaged the amp or maybe the caps around it when I hooked up a mono telephone to sound adapter to try to record operator messages from my phone line... apparently, the input jack is stereo and didn't like the voltage that was leaking through the crappy adapter from the phone line! after that, the already noisy card became horribly noisy... it still works otherwise

a family friend bought me a WB2 (CT1910) as a gift... I chose it and I got suckered into creative marketing... I didn't know there were better cards such as the DB50XG at that time and they were all about the same price! But with it all said and done, it's still a good thing I got it because you can't find the gamepak CD anywhere anymore, nor the actual utils 720k floppy that came with it... you NEED it to change between reverb/chorus and qsound, as well as GM/GS/MT32... otherwise it just defaults to GM!

so because of that, I found someone on a BBS selling his CT3900 because he bit the AWE64 bug (what a rip off they were once I found out what exactly they were)... that was an OEM version so I got OEM floppies of that (imaged and already in my revision 3 CD)... still lives in my retro box and works great with my CT1910! Has the 4.13 DSP and newer/better CT1745A-S/CT1748A-SBP chips

later on, I bought a brand new in box SB16SCSI from ebay I think probably 10 years ago... it was a rare sight and I think I paid good money for it... the ASP chip that I also bought new and was being used in the CT2230 but now lives in that CT1779 card 😁 The chip still works and thankfully was not damaged! This is the rare 1995 late production CT1779, so it has the much better CT1745A-S mixer chip and a 4.13 DSP

I still have the retail packaging of all my stuff and will post pics in another thread soon 😀

Same here... in all of my AWE/SoundFont (and currently Live) days I've never heard of the SF1/2/3/ CDs, quite interesting indeed! 😀

Any idea of what is on them?

@TheMAN : If you can point me towards sites having more installation disks, or if you can send me some rare ones, I'll add in to my new project. I'm currently in the process of re-organizing the installation disks according to the classes - SB, 1.5, 2.0, Pro, Pro2, 16, etc.. Right now I'm currently collecting only the installation disks and arranging and editing the folders.

I have a 5.25" CR-563 driver floppy, I never imaged it... but it's so much trouble to even get it done now as I have to hook up a 5.25" drive... don't see much point in it

I got the early SB16 OEM floppies also
today I dug out my Panasonic retail 8x SCSI CD-ROM drive floppies... 4 disks, VFW 1.1D, quicktime 2.0, win3.1/dos/os2 drivers, and win95 drivers

anyway... I got a lot more than you do now, except for the 8-bit stuff (which I'm not putting into my new ISO)... you'll get them all soon when I'm done with the ISO 😉
I've added the panasonic floppies into the ISO just for the hell of it since creative and panasonic had such a close partnership in the early multimedia days... I *could* remove it if you want me to stay 100% pure creative... it is a possibility they get removed for the sake of other creative stuff I add if I run out of space... current ISO stands at 631MB... I have another 90MB of working space (it'll be a overburn disc if I can get enough crap to add in)

I haven't come across any other sites yet with more disks, so...

as for those soundfont cds... I think they are japanese releases... I saw them on many yahoo japan auctions for the AWE64 Golds

If you are sitting on it, what about making iso files of the "gold" please ?

All of my AWE's weren't the Gold editon. The only set of disks that I still have are the ones pictured here -> http://cgi.ebay.com/Soundblaster-AWE32-Driver … =item2a0e33186e .

None of my AWEs (or SB16) had CDs, but rather floppies, short of the "AWE32 Upgrade" cards (CT1920) that I had (and that CD included the same Windows and DOS drivers as all of the others).

I simply meant that I have a lot of the older manuals, including the one pictured in the previous link ( http://cgi.ebay.com/Sound-Blaster-16-Users-Gu … =item483ec824e3 ).

think you can make an iso of that goldfinch cd?

Yep, I could do that 😀 Two questions:

The CD(s) that I have are not "official" Creative Labs CDs, but rather some other company... my memory is fuzzy, but I think maybe something like "Micro Trends" or something like that. Does that matter (i.e. are you still interested?).

Also note that the actual drivers included on the CDs are identical to the smallish drivers that are (or rather, used to be) available on CL's web site... you know, those two AWE32/SB16 EXE installers (one for DOS, one for Windows 9x).

IIRC, the only difference was the version of AWEUTIL.COM that shipped with the card(s)... they required a different version of that TSR utility than a standard full AWE-32 sound card used to function properly (i.e. the AWEUTIL.COM for the full AWE-32 sound cards doesn't work and will not load for the CT1920's).

Also (if you're still interested), where can i upload the ISO file to?

yeah, the goldfinch card was never sold retail.... I believe gateway, micron, and dell sold these upgrades to owners of those respective computers... in fact, the goldfinch driver floppies I found came directly from one of those sites (downloaded)

so yeah, make an iso of it and it'l be all good 😀
I decided to give the OEM driver disks some love after being so neglected for so long... and they are quite a bit different in how they are put together compared to the retail ones too... my very old sb16 oem floppies were completely different from the retail ones of that time, but they're not quite so different anymore

anyway, hotfile and rapidshare works pretty good
no need to make it permanent... I'm sure malik and wolverine will get right to it 😉

rapidshare only allows uploads up to 500mb, but I'm sure the goldfinch disc isn't that big... if it is, just use something like winrar to archive the iso and split it into 2 files... use the "store" option and not compress it as it'll take too long with little benefit 😀

A-OK, I'll prolly use RapidShare 😀 I'll get to it as soon as I can find one of the CDs, and post a message here in this thread with links 😀

@rfnagel: Sure, you can upload to any sites you like. I'll refer to your files in my links in addition to your own. And I think Wolverine will be making the mirrors if he's free. ( I like Megaupload and Mediafire - for one, downloaders (non-members/guests/ordinary members) can use download managers like Free Download Manager.)

Aleksej, if you're reading this, I would like to know if I can add-in your ftp links to point to your files. And just wondering if you have any more files to upload (classic Creative Labs stuff). Thanks! 😁
