I'm interested to hear what Creative Labs wrote on their early "Sound Blaster 16" boxes, as to the "System Requirements" (or even system "recommendations" if those are described on the box). Is anyone able to copy from the box and post here? I'm interested in the early ISA SB16's, like the CT1740 (or close to that model). Anyone got a box with the System Requirements they can post?

It would also be interesting to compare to the later SCSI Sound Blaster 16, if anyone also has the System Requirements from that box?

I went to my attic as I remembered I had a box, but it's the Soundblaster 2.0 one.

For the record, it's system req reads:
*PC, XT, AT 286 or higher
(286 recommended)
*512K RAM (minimum)
*DOS 2.0 or higher
*CGA, MGA, EGA or VGA

It's not what you were looking for, but it's a start I guess?

Thanks, I already had a SB 2 box myself. 😀 But thanks for the response nevertheless, as someone might want that info as well.

How about the rest of VOGON'ers...anyone got a CT17____ box with System Requirements listed? Or other early SB16 box, like the SCSI version?

All I could find was an online manual for an SB16 PnP: https://support.intergraph.com/itservices/sys … e/dhav05400.pdf

Ah, here you go, from Creative's own website: http://support.creative.com/kb/ShowArticle.aspx?sid=5800

Thanks, Anonymous Freak ! You obviously know your way around the Creative website ! 😀

I had been curious whether Creative recommended any minimum specific number of MHz "speed", but it looks like they feel any 386-class machine is a good match for the SB16 (at least for the models that came before the "WavEffects" stuff).

I still have my old CL SB16 manuals (from two different old cards), both sets of manuals are with the old Creative Labs' "orangish+blue" motif, and couldn't find a single blurb in them about sys reqs.

Do you possibly have original Install Disks for your old SB16 cards? I'm looking to buy, or else download if someone is willing to host, the complete set of original software disks that came with it (hopefully for the CT1740 or thereabouts).

I'll check over the weekend. I know I have my AWE32 disks still; I might still have the SB16 disks, too.

Good luck in the search. 😀
